Legislation would pave way for 'Broadway South'

Tax incentives that turned Louisiana into an attractive choice for filmmakers are being mimicked to lure live entertainment shows and theater production companies to the state.

Bills for a "Broadway South" initiative are working through the proposal stage in the state Legislature. They could put Louisiana cities - and New Orleans in particular - on a competitive level with markets like Chicago or San Francisco that major plays and musicals visit before moving to New York City.
